I visit schools, playgroups, libraries, and festivals, sharing my stories with children up to Year 8.

The emphasis is on fun and participation and in "living" the story.  For Nursery and Early Years children, I do story telling, role playing and mask making.  For KS1 and KS2, I run a number of different workshops depending upon the request, but they include Mad Rhymes, Imagine, and The Editor.

I run Passion For Words, a 6-session creative writing course for G&T Y2 children and older.  Each participant has the time to create their own story, with an emphasis on powerful and enriching language. They write their original story, having one-to-one editing, design a front cover, write a blurb, and have it produced into a book.

"Karen was fun, engaged the children (and adults) and ran an energetic event, which was the highlight of our book festival. We received very positive feedback from the teachers and children, especially as Karen provided follow up materials. We'll definitely book her for future events and to promote reading for pleasure" - Sophie Castle, Librarian and organiser, Medway Libraries Children's Book Festival

"It was fab!  Such a brilliant buzz in the Reading Cafe.  Kids LOVED  IT!" – Jess Barrio, Granton Primary, Streatham, London

“Inspired by Karen’s enthusiasm and creative, multi-sensory approach, the children looked forward to and thoroughly enjoyed the sessions,” – Lisa Lacourarie, St Martin’s Infants, Epsom, Surrey

'Thanks, Karen.  We thoroughly enjoyed your visit.' - Sharon Marsden, literacy leader at St Edwards Primary, Romford, Essex
